New Twitch feature "Predictions" allows viewers to place bets

Who will win this match? What will I order to eat? Will I be able to finish the game by midnight? These are just some sample questions for the new Twitch feature "Predictions", where viewers can bet their channel points on the outcome of an event.

Twitch has developed steadily since its launch in 2011 and has always kept users happy with new features and ideas - sometimes more, sometimes less successful. Now there's another very interesting innovation on the streaming platform that puts the focus on the streaming content and the interaction of the users. Streamers can define events and their potential outcomes. There are always two options for every question.

Viewers can then use a portion of their collected channel points to bet on one of the two options. Those who bet correctly will then receive a certain amount from the total pool to their channel point account. Channel points are purely virtual points that cannot be purchased or exchanged for real money.

More interactivity and viewer attention

This feature could be a real masterstroke for Twitch, because it brings the viewer closer to the action and creates a certain bond between the streamer and the community. Theoretically, you can feed the tool with completely banal questions, but whoever has made a tip will not leave the stream until it is clear how the situation ended. This is a smart way to bind viewers to the stream and draw their attention to what is happening. This could lead to completely new ways of entertainment in the future, especially since we know that Twitch will expand and optimize its features if they are well received by the community.

The feature will be available to everyone by the end of the year

Currently, not all streamers have access to the tool, because Twitch has decided to publish it gradually. In order to be as fair as possible, Twitch partners and affiliates, who can already test the new feature, were chosen at random. However, by the end of 2020 "Predictions" will be made available for the entire Twitch community.
