Lots of new content announced for PUBG
2017 Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds was the absolute highlight in the gaming community. Although it was only released in March 2017 and was still in the “early access” phase until the end of 2017, the multiplayer shooter was able to win over the gaming world in no time at all. As the first game not by Valve, PUBG managed to reach the top of the Steam Charts. Also Christian from the own3d.tv Twitch channel is still fighting for victory in the “Battle Royale” shooter. And not only he will have been delighted when developer Bluehole announced lots of innovations for 2018 a few days ago. So what can we expect next year? We’ll explain.
Two new maps (including a new 4×4 km map on a green island with high mountains), new vehicles, more weapons and lots of accessories: With the new contents 2018 will be an exciting year for all PUBG fans. In addition, adjustments to the sound, matchmaking and balancing should bring new energy into the game. Bluehole has published a detailed roadmap on the official website, which makes you want more. It also includes a new emote system.
Overview of the updates Trendier, smoother and more extensive
By the end of June, new vehicles will be added to the game. In addition, the selection of weapons and attachments will be greatly expanded in 2018. Before the already mentioned 4x4km map another map in the size of 8x8km will come to the test servers. Furthermore, they want to test limb and vehicle bullet penetration. This should add new depth to the ballistic system, and increase the realism of the gameplay. They will also improve the animation system to make it smoother and more reactive. Among other things, changes are planned in the movement of the characters, for example during the entry and change of place in vehicles. The armed and unarmed melee combat system and parachuting system will be improved as well as the vehicle sounds, weather-related surface conditions and gun sounds.
New graphics & new skins Revisions of the game's look
One of the first points on the roadmap is a complete overhaul of the graphics and rendering engine to better reflect the “aesthetic side” of the game. Among other things, the buildings will receive significantly more detailed sprites and finer details with the update. Also, skins for parachutes and weapons should improve the customization of your character.
Stability & Security Background optimizations
With the following changes, developer Bluehole wants to fulfill its “core responsibility” to the players: To provide a stable, smooth and secure environment in Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. For this purpose, they want to continue working on updates to combat cheaters and improve server stability.
The roadmap for the Xbox developments in spring 2018 includes further adjustments of the control system. Furthermore, the Xbox One version of the game will be extended by a quickly accessible in-game tool to report players in case of unsporting behaviour. The developer is already planning patch releases to provide players on Xbox One with their own download client to test the changes before their release.
We are looking forward to seeing what the new year has to offer for the fans of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. Developer Bluehole has also expressed the wish to enter the eSports sector with the Battle Royale shooter. Many exciting developments and goals! We will certainly keep you up to date about them.
