Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is getting Weapon Skins
As already announced in the roadmap for 2018, the first weapon skins have now been added to the test servers of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. In addition, the developers are currently testing a region-lock. All about the topic in this article.

Counter Strike: Global Offensive has had them for a long time: Weapon Skins, with which you can customize your weapons optically according to your wishes. The cosmetic items from CS:GO have been changing owners in the steam community market or on exchange platforms for years at sometimes unbelievable prices. Now there’s also a new PUBG update which will unlock weapon skins for the Battle Royale Shooter for the first time. The cosmetic items can be equipped and sorted by different categories in the settings.
Finding weapon skins How does it work?
There are two ways to get the new skins from the PUBG loot boxes. One way is to buy so-called “Triumph Crates”, which is a new box that you can get weekly by chance (with a drop rate of 20%). You can also buy them with the ingame currency “Battlepoints” (BP). The second way to get weapon skins are the “Raider Crates”. These do not require a key and can also be purchased for BP. However, since they are easier to open, the chances of having rarer weapon skins are smaller. The rarest item you can get from the Triumph Crate is the “Glory – AKM” with a drop rate of 0.16% while the best item from the Raider Crate is the Gold Plate – S686. The drop rate however is only 0.0064%.

Revised matchmaking system Region-Lock for cheaters from China
In addition to this innovation, the developers are also testing a new matchmaking system. In the last few months there have been calls for a region lock for China to restrict Chinese players to the Chinese servers. Many players had demanded such a region lock due to a large number of cheaters from China. Players will now only see servers located in their region. However, it is possible to change the server region if you connect to a team partner from a more distant region.
So it’s not a real region-lock, but the developer Bluehole should be able to accommodate the fans a bit. Brendan Greene, the creator of PUBG, had recently confirmed once again that he doesn’t want to have a full region lock in PUBG. Currently, the update is only available on the test servers. However, it should be uploaded to the live servers on March 27.
