Steelseries Rival DOTA2 Special Editon A gaming mouse with exclusive DOTA2 design
The DOTA2 Special Edition of the Steelseries Rival gaming mouse convinces with its anti-sweat coating. The coating not only ensures that there are no fingerprints on the surface, but also better grip. Furthermore, the DOTA2 Special Edition is much longer than other gaming mice, making it especially interesting for players with big hands.
Special Features
The Rival DOTA2 Special Edition by Steelseries is a rather unspectacular mouse. It has two programmable thumb keys and allows you to print your own name plate using a 3D printer, replacing the DOTA2 logo on the back.
Scope of delivery
The Steelseries Rival DOTA2 Special Edition gaming mouse comes with no extras.
Conclusion
For a price of about 50,00€ we would have expected more. The quality of workmanship is high and the branding is certainly interesting for DOTA2 players, but all in all this mouse offers hardly anything that would justify the high price. However, for players with big hands and fans of DOTA2, it is still worth a look.
Razer DeathAdder Elite The most original gaming mouse
Razer’s DeathAdder Elite is the successor of the first gaming mouse. It has a timeless design, but is also an absolute precision monster that only a few mice can compete with.
Special Features
With the DeathAdder Elite, Razer has avoided unnecessary gimmicks. It has only two additional thumb keys and looks rather simple on the outside. The two outstanding features of the DeathAdder Elite are the durability of 50 million clicks per key and its high resolution accuracy of 99.4%. With up to 16,000 DPI, it is the most accurate gaming mouse currently available.
Scope of delivery
The Razer DeathAdder Elite gaming mouse comes with a detailed booklet that explains the functionality of the device and its buttons.
Conclusion
The DeathAdder Elite is timelessly elegant and optimized for perfect function. It may not have as many keys as similarly expensive devices, but it shines with its inner values. No wonder that it is still appreciated by many professional gamers.

Steelseries Heroes of the Storm Gaming Mouse A fancy gaming mouse for Blizzard fans
With 8 keys and a stylish branding in the style of Blizzard’s MOBA « Heroes of the Storm », this special edition by Steelseries is especially interesting for fans of the game. Let’s see what else this gaming mouse has to offer.
Special Features
This licensed product by Steelseries has a bit more to offer than the DOTA2 Edition described above. Nevertheless, it doesn’t really stand out with its 8 keys or the laser sensor with up to 5670 DPI. With a very fast response time of one millisecond it is still a pretty good gaming mouse, but only the design is really outstanding. Blizzard’s branding looks great and shines with many details, such as purple dots on the sturdy, braided cable.
Scope of delivery
The Steelseries Heroes of the Storm Special Edition Gaming Mouse only comes with a Steelseries sticker.
Conclusion
With a price of more than 100.00 € we expected more, but the Heroes of The Storm Edition (which is based on the popular « Sensei » gaming mouse from Steelseries) is still slightly better than the DOTA2 edition. If you’re looking for an average, but very well-manufactured gaming mouse and you’re a fan of Blizzard, it’s definitely an option for you. But for those who want a lot of adjustment possibilities, high DPI and great customization, there are much better alternatives in this price segment.
BenQ Zowie EC2-A High-quality standard mouse
BenQ’s Zowie EC2-A gaming mouse is one of the simplest mice on the market. It only has two additional thumb keys and a DPI switch, which is located at the bottom of the mouse. Therefore, fast switching of the DPI is hardly possible.
Special Features
The EC2-A doesn’t have many special features. Only the high quality workmanship (e. g. with gold-plated USB plug) and the display of the DPI via the lighting colour are a little different from other devices on the market.
Scope of delivery
The Zowie EC2-A comes in a very simple box with a manual, replacement mouse feet and a Zowie sticker.
Conclusion
The Zowie EC2-A gaming mouse has a simple but high-quality design and satisfies the basic needs. If you are looking for a high-quality standard mouse, it is the right choice for you. For gamers with more diverse needs, however, there are already much more interesting devices in this price range.

There you are going to find the best and highest rated mice for various games within the esports universe.
BIGGEST BRANDS – GREATEST MICE
Taking a look at today’s hardware, there has definitely never been a better time to be a gamer. Unfortunately, this also puts you in the difficult position to find the right equipment and the best bang for your buck among all those brands, products and gimmicks. But don’t be afraid! Although you are going to find an intimidating amount of products out there, there is nonetheless a handful of brands that have clearly proved themselves worthy of being referred to as the top of the line within the industry.
DP..WHAT??? - The most important terms explained
Before we hop into the wonderful world of teflon-coated high-speed/high-performance-mice, we have to explain a few terms which are used frequently in this article.
DPI
The term DPI (dots per inch) explains the sensitivity of a mouse. That means: the higher the DPI, the further your cursors moves on your screen when you move the mouse.
With higher DPI you can move your character already with small wrist movements, while low DPI requires longer mouse movements. Gamers usually focus their movement on wrist aim (out of the arm wrist -> high DPI, short movement), forearm aim (out of the forearm -> low dpi, long movement) or a combination of both. There is no general opinion on which style is better but FPS-players do prefer the forearm method since long movements are usually more precise.
Polling Rate
The polling rate is measured in Hz and explains, how often the mouse gives feedback on its position, to the computer.
That means: on a polling rate of 125 Hz, the mouse sends its position 125 times per second (= every eights millisecond) and on a polling rate of 500 Hz every second millisecond. Therefore a higher polling rate reduces the delay between the movement of the mouse and the cursor movement on your screen but is also more CPU heavy.
Sensor types
While in the past mouse movement was tracked with a plastic ball on the bottom of the mouse, today we luckily have two different types of sensors which are more precise and easier to handle. Modern mice usually have either an optical sensor or a laser sensor.
That means: an optical mouse uses a LED-light through which the mouse movements are tracked by a CMOS-sensor inside of the mouse, while a laser mouse uses a laser for that. All in all both sensor types work very similar but since the laser technology grants a more precise information gathering, it can be used on more surfaces than just your mousepad. However this can also result in your mouse gathering more “useless” information, which can lead to slight inaccuracies compared to an optical mouse.

Ergonomics
Ergonomics have been an important part of modern office work for the last couple of years and are slowly gaining a lot of popularity among gamers as well. If you think about the countless hours you need to spend in front of your computer if you are really taking gaming seriously, it only makes sense to choose a piece of equipment that tries to support your hand and the position of your wrist as naturally as possible. Especially if you have experienced pain in your fingers, palm or your wrist, it might be the right time to start thinking about ergonomic gaming equipment.
Ambidextrous Design
Although ergonomic designs have been around the gaming industry for some time now, there is one type of design that has been getting a lot of increased attention recently: the ambidextrous gaming mouse. All this basically means is that, having a completely symmetrical design as well as the exact same amount of buttons on both sides, this mouse can be used with either the right or the left hand. Whereas these mice might seem as they are not going to be as comfortable as there ergonomic counter parts, it is safe to say that companies are putting a lot of design efforts into this to make their ambidextrous options as comfortable as possible (e.g. limiting their design to a specific grip type). Especially since ambidextrous gaming mice are going to have a broader userbase than their ergonomic counterparts, we can definitely expect a lot of exciting designs and inventions in the years ahead.
Grip Types
There are basically three main grip types and since you might come across some designs that do not meet your specific grip type, it might be helpful to take a minute to think about the most comfortable grip type for yourself. Instead of wasting your time with in-depth explanations of every grip type, it might be more helpful just to take a quick look at these three graphics.
