Lately, it's been pretty quiet around the "biggest game in the world" Fortnite. It seems that players are saturated and looking for something new. There is no other explanation for the excursions of millions of players into other gaming realms. Fall Guys or Among Us bring just these innovations and a whole new kind of gaming fun. The latter indie hit caused a real Twitch hype in the second half of 2020. Fall Guys uses simple mechanics and well-known rules, but still left all other games behind in terms of player numbers. Now the Fortnite developers are introducing a game mode whose similarity to Among Us is undeniable.
"The Spy Within" - Find the two spies
Like its role model, the newest mode relies primarily on communication between the competitors. So, ideally, there are ten players facing each other on the map, two of whom are the so-called spies. The identity of each player is hidden and will only be revealed at the end. Now it's up to the eight remaining players to work together and figure out who the spies are.
To ensure ideal cooperation, Epic Games recommends using the in-game feature Houseparty, which allows you to talk to your team via voice or video chat. However, this is not possible during the match, but only when a meeting takes place in which players can consult each other regarding the identity of the spies. There is also a voting system in the new Fortnite mode, which actually works the same way as in Among Us - whoever has the most votes after a meeting is kicked out. If a thorough investigation is carried out, the "right person", i.e., a spy, can be eliminated, but innocent players should also be prepared for an abrupt end to the game, especially in case of unintentional suspicious behavior.
Among Us wins at The Game Awards - new map coming in 2021
While some copy, the king of "Werewolf" games reflects on the constant development. The three-person development team from the USA is already working hard on new content for the game, which was released in 2018. For example, the new map "Airship" was presented at this year's The Game Awards, where players are no longer transported to a spaceship, but to a giant airship above the clouds.
Compared to the endless expanses of space, the little game characters stay almost exactly like their creators on the ground. At the same time, the three young minds behind the hype game were delighted to receive two awards (Best Mobile Game & Best Multiplayer Game). A gigantic success for InnerSloth, which, if you look at the emotional reactions of the developers during the award ceremony, can hardly be denied.
